Creative Escape
A Two-Day Mixed Media Retreat with Cher Salvatore at Extending Grace
Please join us for a two day workshop with artist Cher Salvatore, where we will create two mixed media projects.
The first is the Concertina Book in a Tin, in which we will create and alter an accordion style book with several different media and ephemera. We will then house it in an aged tin, which we will also decorate and embellish.
The second project is an Altered Book project in which we will incorporate ephemera, textiles, fibers, labels, three dimensional pieces, along with the use of different media, to convert the substrate into your personal masterpiece!
Learn new techniques and play with media that may be new to you!
Please join us for a few days of community and creativity! Class size is limited!
This project is appropriate for all skill levels!

We’re honored to host Cher Salvatore once again. Cher is a self-taught mixed media artist whose work has been published in Somerset Studio and Art Journaling magazines. Cher’s passion for art, storytelling, and joyful discovery shines through every project she leads. When she’s not teaching from her lively home studio in Wildwood, Missouri, she’s inspiring others to dive into their own creative journey.

All supplies are included. In addition to workshop supplies, Extending Grace has an extensive paper and art supply inventory, both new and vintage which you can purchase to supplement your project.

We’re excited to offer these two days of creative exploration, great food, and fellowship with other creatives.
Once you’ve registered, You will be added to an email group for more details where we’ll give you up to date info and inspiration. We’ll give you all the details in the group as well!
We are limiting the class to 8 participants, but we must have 8 to hold the workshop. If we do not reach 8 by September 20, 2026, your fees will be refunded.

You are responsible for your own hotel accommodations. Devon is working on a special rate with a local hotel, and you will be informed of such in the FB group. The Hubbard/ Youngstown area has some wonderful accommodations. Let us know if you need some suggestions. We are located halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
And if your spouse is a golfer and wants to travel with you, (weather permitting) our area is famous for its affordable, beautiful golf courses. We also have great museums and restaurants that will keep them busy while you’re creating!
