We’re always finding new ways to make shopping at Extending Grace more fun, more personal, and more connected. One of those ways is through live shopping on Whatnot. Here’s what you need to know before you join us!

What is Whatnot?

Whatnot is a live shopping platform where we host auctions and sales in real time. Think of it like shopping with us together — asking questions, hearing the story behind pieces, and grabbing one-of-a-kind finds as they’re discovered.

It’s interactive, personal, and a whole lot of fun.

Why does Extending Grace sell on Whatnot?

Live shopping allows us to:

  • Share the story and details behind every vintage and antique piece
  • Offer one-of-a-kind treasures you won’t find anywhere else
  • Create a sense of community and connection — just like in the shop
  • Reach customers near and far who love slow, intentional decorating

It’s another way to extend grace, hospitality, and good finds right into your home.

Do I need a Whatnot account to shop live?

Yes. To shop our live sales, you’ll need a free Whatnot account.

Once you’re signed up, you can:

  • Join our live shows
  • Bid or “buy now” during sales
  • Chat with us in real time
  • Easily check out and track your orders

We share simple links to join each sale — no tech skills required.

What kind of items are sold on Whatnot?

Our Whatnot sales often include:

  • Vintage and antique décor
  • Unique, one-of-a-kind finds
  • Seasonal collections
  • Estate pieces and special discoveries
  • DIY projects for your vintage style home

Some items are Whatnot-only and may not appear on our website or in-store.

Are prices different on Whatnot?

Sometimes! Live sales may include:

  • Auction pricing
  • Special live-only deals
  • First-time buyer perks or promotions

Pricing depends on the item, availability, and the style of the sale.

How does checkout and shipping work?

  • All checkout and shipping are handled securely through Whatnot
  • Shipping costs are calculated at checkout
  • You’ll receive tracking information once your order ships

If you purchase multiple items in one show, Whatnot bundles shipping automatically.

Can I still shop in-store or through the website?

Absolutely!

You can still:

  • Shop in-store at Extending Grace
  • Visit our website for information, workshops, and events

Whatnot is simply another way to shop — especially if you can’t make it to the store or want to join us live from home.

When do you go live on Whatnot?

We go live regularly and announce each sale in advance:

  • On Instagram & Facebook
  • Through our email newsletter
  • Directly on Whatnot

Is live shopping complicated?

Not at all. If you can watch a video, you can shop Whatnot.

We guide you through everything during the live — and you can always ask questions in the chat. Many of our customers say they wish they had tried it sooner.

Growing, Evolving and Closing on Wednesdays (Yes, Really!)

If there’s one thing you’ve probably figured out about us over the past nine years, it’s this: we’re not afraid to grow, change, and make a little room for new things, especially if it means bringing you more of what you love.

So here’s the scoop:
Starting the first week of July, Extending Grace will be closed on Wednesdays.

We know, we know. Wednesdays have their charm. But truthfully, this little shift will help us serve you even better. Taking that day will give us a chance to breathe, reorganize the shop (yes, even more than we already do!) and—most importantly—go hunting and gathering for the vintage and antique treasures you love so much. That’s right: this isn’t about slowing down, it’s about leveling up.

Over the years, you’ve watched us evolve—from rearranging displays for the 47th time to building up our online presence during Covid, to finding creative ways to keep the heart of Extending Grace beating strong. This change is just another chapter in that story. And let’s be honest…
We’re also 9 years older than when we started. Somewhere between lifting furniture and chasing estate sale leads, our knees started filing formal complaints. 😄

Speaking of evolution…

We’ve got another change you should know about:
Effective June 30th, we’re switching from CommentSold to Whatnot for all our live sales.

During Covid, CommentSold was exactly what we needed to stay connected with you and keep things moving. We’re so thankful for what it helped us build. But now, it’s time for something fresh—and a little more fun.

Whatnot brings a playful, easy-to-use format that makes live shopping more interactive and exciting. Once you’re signed up, you can join our live sales on Wednesdays and Sundays (yes, we’ll still see you on Wednesdays—just online!) and shop our BIN (Buy It Now) page anytime.

Not signed up for Whatnot? You can click the link here to get signed up AND get $15 in credit towards your first purchase!

One more thing:
With this change, the Extending Grace app will no longer be available. We know many of you have loved using it, and we’re so grateful for that. But we’re confident that Whatnot is the next best step in helping us grow—and helping you shop with even more ease and enjoyment.

The Extending Grace Story 2022

Or How Two Flexible 65-Year-Olds Follow Their Dream …

We didn’t start our journey  at age 65, but we certainly feel like we’re coming into our own this year.

Devon Cretella and Susan Mocker met and exchanged pleasantries in the 80’s. (Devon had on a corduroy jumper, that much I remember. She is always the more fashion conscious.) Then we passed like ships in the night until the late 90’s when we started going to the same church and the rest is history. 

A very rich history filled with spouses, raising kids, antiquing, art shows, house church and a deep lasting friendship. Things we’ve perfected over the years:

  • Road trips – we can take a 2 hour trip and turn it into a 12 hour adventure filled with antiques and thrifting. 
  • Weekend getaways – even if they fall on a Monday or Tuesday. We fill every moment with intention; learning new DIY techniques or creating an online store during the pandemic, we’ve learned to maximize these precious getaways. 

Things we’re working on: 

  • Making the shopping experience as seamless and fun as can be. We love having events at the store where folks can gather, shop and visit. We absolutely love it when friends get reacquainted while in the shop! What a treat! 
  • Improving the online experience through our app and online store! Did you know you can shop at Extending Grace from home 24/7 and still do local pickup? 
  • Ways to better serve our vendors as well. Our local artists, makers and collectors that create, hunt and gather to provide for you are priceless to us. We cannot do this without them.
  • Finding the coolest, most unique and affordable décor for your homes. Most of our items are one of a kind; we love that and we think you do too. 
  • Providing you with the tools and tutorials to create, update and restore furnishings and accessories for your home. We are constantly on the hunt for high quality brands that help you create your most hospitable home. 
  • Creating unique workshops that will spur you on to create in your own home and for those you love. 
  • Communicating more with you via email and new blog posts.

Is all this time at home causing you to re-evaluate how you use your home? Are you ready for some changes? Extending Grace is here to help with some ideas.

In the pre-COVID-19 world, many of us didn’t spend as much time at home as we do now. Work, school, schlepping kids all over the place and time with friends created a lifestyle that did not include lots of time hanging out at home. We liked our home, but our world did not revolve around it. That is changing for many, and in a lot of cases, that’s been a nice thing.

For many of us, our routines have changed:

  • Perhaps you’re working from home and would love a place to spread out all your stuff so you don’t have to gather it up before each family meal.
  • Perhaps you’d love a spot that’s all your own where you can have a bit of privacy and curl up with a book or listen to a podcast.
  • Maybe you’ve discovered that your family loves board games and would really like a designated spot to keep an ongoing game of Monopoly or Battleship going.
  • Maybe you started the garden of your dreams and you want really fun, funky pieces to store your stuff or entertain friends outside.
  • Maybe you’ve become a master bread maker and would love to re-do your kitchen space with sturdy pieces that won’t break the bank.
One of the things we love about vintage, antique and re-purposed pieces is that they’ve stood the test of time.

Vintage pieces are typically well made and construction is solid. The finish or the color may date them, but in many cases, a bit of paint or stain can help you re-imagine them for your home.

Vintage pieces are also affordable. Scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest can often leave you feeling that the look you really want is unattainable. However, with a little work on your part to update them, vintage furniture and accessories fit nicely in your budget. And sometimes Mom and Dad, or your neighbor wanting to downsize are more than willing to share with you.

We work with lots of customers that don’t know where to start, but know they want to make some changes. We offer lots of workshops on how to paint your furniture and create amazing, one of a kind home accessories with Fusion Mineral Paint and Iron Orchid Design products. And if you’re not comfortable with workshops yet, we’ll point you to tutorials for you to watch from home. We carry all their products and are eager to get you started with them.

How We’re Celebrating our 4th Birthday this year with COVID-19

Happy birthday to us! We’re 4 years old!

Due to COVID-19, we are changing things up a bit.

In years past, we’ve had this place packed with our local artists, collectors and visiting vendors!

Honestly, we miss those days, but
we ‘re up to the challenges this year!

We’ve put some things in place to reduce congestion and still give you a chance to celebrate with us.

 

*Instead of just one day, Spin to Win will be available all month long for our in-store shoppers. We’ll do the spinning for you to keep contact to a minimum, but the savings are the same. You will win 10-20% off your in-store purchases every day you come in to shop.

*We’re going to introduce to you our vendors during the month of July via FB! So instead of meeting them face to face, you get to meet them online and find out what makes them tick!

*Watch our Facebook and Instagram feeds and your email for give-aways. Each week we’ll be passing out the gifts!
